Cold work

Grinding, polishing, and etching once it's cool — the final, patient pass.

The final pass

Cold — relative to the furnace — is where edges get ground, surfaces get polished, and the piece gets its voice. Diamond wheels, water, and a very steady hand.

The numbers

tools diamond wheel, cork, pumice
water running, always
time hours, not minutes
finish satin, matte, or mirror

Why it matters

The furnace makes it fast. Cold work makes it last. It's the difference between a bubble and a vessel.
